Transneft Druzhba allocated more than RUB 150 million for environmental protection measures in 2017

Transneft Druzhba allocated more than RUB 150 million to implement environmental protection measures in 2017 which was declared the Year of Ecology in Russia and in the entities of the Transneft system.

During the last year, specific emissions of air contaminants into the atmosphere upon oil and petroleum products transportation were reduced by 2%. Technical upgrading and overhaul of Unecha line operation dispatcher station (LODS) and the production base of Bryansk Regional Directorate (RD) were conducted. Overhaul of the heat supply networks was performed at Penza-2 LODS and the production service shop of Penza RD. Automated temperature mode control systems were installed at all industrial facilities.

During the last year, three accredited environmental monitoring laboratories of Transneft Druzhba performed 68,109 analyses of surface and waste water, soil and air samples. Rehabilitation of more than 500 ha of lands was conducted. Stations of equipment for eliminating emergency oil and petroleum product spills were 100% outfitted with environmental protection equipment and materials. 

As part of activities to recover aquatic biological resources, 68.5 thousand sterlet young fishes and 31.5 thousand wild carp young fishes were released into the rivers Oka, Tsna, Desna, Saratov and Voronezh reservoirs.

Within the Year of Ecology, Transneft Druzhba together with the administration of Bryansk, where the Company’s executive office is located, conducted the Tree of Druzhba campaign (“Tree of Friendship”). The purpose of the event was creating green areas in the popular leisure areas. As part of the environmental project, in total more than one hundred and fifty ornamental trees and bushes were planted: barberry, dogwoods, thuja, Norway maples, firs, larch, juniper, mountain ash, spiraea.

Compliance with the standards of the Environmental Management System (EMS) in Transneft Druzhba is confirmed with the results of an evaluation audit. In 2017, experts from the international holding DQS confirmed that the activities of the facilities of Transneft Druzhba complied with the criteria of the standard ISO 14001:2004.
