In January-September 2021, Transneft Druzhba has inspected 15 oil and petroleum products storage tanks at operating facilities in Samara, Ulyanovsk, Voronezh, Tambov, Orel and Bryansk Regions.
The work was carried out as part of a diagnostic programme for operating facilities of Transneft Druzhba for 2021. The inspection allows to timely detect possible defects and plan effective ways to eliminate them during repair work. The goal was to improve the reliability of oil and petroleum products storage during transportation via Transneft system’s pipelines.
Specialists carried out a full technical inspection of 8 tanks with a total capacity of 210,000 m3. Vertical steel floating-roof tanks (VSFRT) and reinforced concrete tanks (RCT) at the Lopatino line operation dispatcher station (LODS), VSFRTs at the Unecha LODS, vertical steel tanks (VST) at the Klin and 8N LODSs were inspected.
The tanks were prepared for the inspection by decommissioning, cleaning and degassing. Using ultrasonic, magnetic, X-ray methods, welded joints were inspected, the metal thickness was measured, and the quality of the outer and inner anti-corrosion coating was checked. The floating roofs of the VSFRTs and VFRTs, as well as foundations and pavings were examined. Geodetic measurements were carried out by laser scanning.
Partial inspection of 7 tanks were also completed at the Priboy, Klin, Voronezh, Stalnoy Kon and Unecha LODSs. An external survey and geodetic measurements were carried out without decommissioning the tanks. Acoustic emission testing of steel tanks was carried out.
Currently, Transneft Druzhba is carrying out partial inspection of 1 tank and a full inspection of 3 tanks. The works will be completed by the end of this year.
