Transneft Druzhba has connected 3 new sections of the Ufa – West and Section No. 42 petroleum products trunk pipelines (PPTPs) in Samara, Penza and Bryansk Regions. The work was carried out as part of the technical upgrading, revamping and overhaul programme. The goal was to increase the industrial and environmental safety of diesel fuel transportation via Transneft’s pipeline system.
In Samara Region, 7.8 km of the pipeline were replaced as part of the Priboy – Zhuravlinskaya section revamping of the Ufa – West PPTP. In Penza Region, during the PPTP construction, a new 25.2 km section was laid bypassing Kuznetsk.
96 crossings of petroleum products pipeline with existing pipelines, overhead electric power transmission lines, cable lines, roads and railways were completed.
Also, in Bryansk Region, specialists connected a 260 m long underwater crossing of the Section No. 42 PPTP via the Revna River. The need for revamping was caused by increased requirements for the reliability of pipes running in the riverbed of waterbodies.
Before the sections connection, hydraulic tests, in-line inspection and commissioning works were carried out. The connection was carried out during the scheduled 72-hour shutdown of petroleum products transportation via the Ufa – West and Section No. 42 PPTPs.
Currently, diesel fuel transportation has been resumed and is carried out under the standard protocol.
Commissioning of the connected sections is scheduled for November 2020.
