Transneft Druzhba has connected the revamped crossing of the Kuybyshev – Unecha-2 oil trunk pipeline (OTPUWC) via the Sudost River in Bryansk Region.
Construction works were launched in July 2020. A set of measures for corridor preparation, welding and pipelines laying was carried out. The sections of the line which have reached the end of the standard service life will be dismantled. The length of the revamped oil pipeline underwater crossing section is 1,830 m.
When performing construction works on water bodies, increased requirements are imposed on reliability and safety. The siphon (underwater section of the pipeline) was pulled into a ready-made trench in compliance with all industrial and environmental standards. Before the section connection, a full range of hydraulic tests and in-line inspections was successfully performed.
The connection was performed during the scheduled 72-hour shutdown of oil transportation via the Kuybyshev – Unecha-2 OTP. Upon completion of the measures, oil transportation was resumed on schedule.
Commissioning of the revamped section is planned for November.
The revamping of the Kuybyshev – Unecha-2 OTP underwater crossing is carried out as part of Transneft Druzhba’s technical upgrading programme aimed at increasing the reliability and environmental safety of oil transportation facilities.
