Karachevsky District Court of Bryansk Region has convicted twelve members of an organised crime group, who stole over 350 tonnes of diesel fuel through an unauthorised tapping into Section No. 42 of Transneft Druzhba’s petroleum products trunk pipeline.
Employees of the Company's security divisions, together with officers of the FSB Directorate, caught the criminals red-handed in July 2018. The detainees live in Bryansk, Orel, Leningrad, Novgorod and Kaliningrad Regions. Tanks with the diesel fuel, which the criminals poured into a fuel truck, were found in their car. At the same time, an illegal 2,200-metre-long PPTP offshoot connected to a rubber-fabric tank for collecting the stolen petroleum products was found. The diesel fuel was sold to Smolensk Region.
All the defendants were convicted of the crime specified in the Clauses “a” and “b”, Part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft performed by an organised criminal group in an especially large amount). The court sentenced them to imprisonment for a term of 4 to 7 years in a correctional camp of general regime and RUB 500 thousand to 800 thousand fines. The verdict has not entered into force.
