Transneft Druzhba Releases Sterlet Juveniles into Oka and Dnieper Rivers

Transneft Druzhba has released sterlet juveniles into the Oka River in Vladimir Region and into the Dnieper River in Smolensk Region.

The environmental compensatory event on artificial reproduction of aquatic biological resources was held under the corporate programme for biological diversity preservation in the areas of Transneft facilities’ operation for 2019-2021.

The juveniles were grown by the Glavryba fish-breeding company. The fishes were delivered to the point of release by a special transport equipped with an oxygen supply system.  

The rivers were replenished with more than 29 thousand sturgeon juveniles with the average weight of 3 grams. The release was supervised by specialists of the Moskva-Oka Territorial Directorate of the Russian Federal Agency for Fishery who recognized the fry suitable for release into the environment. 

This month, the Company will also release juveniles into Saratov Reservoir.
