Transneft Druzhba has connected underwater crossings of the Kuibyshev – Bryansk petroleum products trunk pipeline (PPTP) across the Selnya and Velemya Rivers.
The work was conducted around the clock for 72 hours during a scheduled shutdown of the petroleum products transportation.
The reconstruction of the underwater crossings across the small watercourses began in February 2019. Before the reconstruction, security and rescue archaeological excavations near the Selnya River were organised, because a settlement of the 18th– 19th centuries would be partially located in the area of future construction.
The length of the constructed underwater crossing across the Velemya River is 370 m, the length of the section crossing the Selnya River is 380 m. The diameter of the pipe is 500 mm.
All the works were completed as part of Transneft Druzhba’s technical upgrading, revamping and overhaul (TUR&OH) programme. The goal was to increase reliability of operation and enhance environmental safety of the pipeline.
Petroleum products transportation was resumed in accordance with the schedule and is conducted under the normal protocol.
