Transneft Druzhba has completed diagnostic operations at oil trunk pipelines (OTP), petroleum products pipelines (PPTP) and process pipelines planned for 2018 to the full extent.
The purpose of the works was to enhance the reliability and operational safety of the pipeline transportation facilities.
In the period from January through December, specialists performed diagnostic examinations of 23 OTP and PPTP sections with the total length of 1,955 km by running 54 various pipeline inspection gadgets (PIGs) through them.
48 trunk pipeline underwater crossings (UC) with the total length of 96.5 km were inspected. Conclusions were issued on UCs’ compliance with applicable technical rules and regulations in view of their condition and safe operation life.
Following the results of the diagnostics, a repair plan was drawn up for the pipelines. Crews of emergency line maintenance divisions (ELMD) and central maintenance divisions (CMD) at Transneft Druzhba’s business units cut out 60 defects and eliminated 758 more defects by installing repair devices on the pipeline and by filing.
This year, diagnostics of two pipeline clean-up and inspection gadget traps (PIG traps) has also been performed. External inspection of process pipelines with the cumulative length of more than 16 kilometres was conducted.
